I think the designers and engineers over at Mavic has become mad scientist with their latest creation the Mavic Cosmic CXR 80. The claim is that these wheels have the lowest drag of any wheel that is out there in the market. These guys not only took into account the shape of the rim but as well as the tires and how it sits on the wheel. How exactly did they do this? Well the gap between the tire and brake track are fitted with a plastic blade into a channel on the rim to make it more aero. Price is heard to be around $2,800 and available sometime in August.

Pearl Izumi is not new to the triathlon scene and they know what a triathlete is looking for. The Pearl Izumi Tri Octane are light, stiff, and anatomically correct. Did I also mention looks great as well? The Tri Octane has a one piece Clarino Rovenica Upper with Direct Vent Technology that offers minimum weight and maximum breathability. A chain catcher will prevent the chain from dropping off the small ring and onto the frame. If the chain is about to slide off the small ring, it hits the chain catcher, which pushes the chain back onto the ring. This saves time, keeps your hands clean, lessens frame damage especially if you have a carbon frame, and could very well salvage your chances of winning a race! Very simple to attach to the front derailleur and next to the small chainring. It’s cheap to get and easy to install so their should be no excuse. Buy it!
